ROLE OVERVIEW
The Chief – Supply Chain and Inventory Management is a strategic CXO-level position responsible for
end-to-end ownership of the jewellery supply chain and multi-store inventory ecosystem across all outlets in Odisha. The role is pivotal to ensuring that the right merchandise — in the right
quantities, forms, and metal/stone compositions — is available at the right store, at the right time, while
protecting the organisation's significant capital locked in bullion, studded jewellery, and finished goods
inventory.
As a member of the executive leadership team, this role bridges the Chief Merchandising Officer's product
and assortment strategy with the Chief Sales Officer's store-level performance needs, and translates both
into operationally executable inventory and procurement frameworks. The incumbent reports directly to
the CEO and is accountable for the financial efficiency, accuracy, and security of inventory assets across
all 13+ stores, including upcoming openings in Sambalpur and Baripada.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supply Chain Strategy & Vendor Ecosystem
▸ Design and own the end-to-end supply chain strategy aligned with the organisation's growth,
expansion, and product diversification roadmap.
▸ Build and manage a robust vendor/supplier network covering gold refineries, karigar clusters,
hallmarking units, diamond and gemstone suppliers, and packaging vendors.
▸ Negotiate commercial terms, lead times, quality benchmarks, and exclusivity arrangements with key
suppliers.
▸ Establish supply chain resilience frameworks to manage commodity price volatility, seasonal
demand surges (Akshaya Tritiya, Dhanteras, wedding season), and festive inventory spikes.
▸ Oversee the integration of new store supply lines for upcoming Sambalpur and Baripada outlets.

2. Inventory Planning & Control
▸ Define and enforce pan-store inventory norms — minimum, maximum, and reorder levels —
calibrated to individual store formats, footfall profiles, and catchment demographics.
▸ Own the Open-to-Buy (OTB) planning process in close coordination with the Chief Merchandising
Officer, ensuring financial discipline and assortment freshness.
▸ Drive regular inventory audits — cycle counts, surprise audits, and annual physical verification — to
ensure 100% accuracy of records.
▸ Monitor stock ageing and non-moving inventory; initiate liquidation, inter-store transfers, or melt-back
decisions in coordination with the CMO and CSO.
▸ Maintain FIFO / weighted average cost discipline for gold inventory and ensure alignment with
hallmarking and BIS compliance on all finished goods.
3. Procurement & Replenishment
▸ Lead centralised procurement of raw materials (gold, silver, platinum, diamonds, gemstones) and
finished jewellery from manufacturing partners and karigars.
▸ Develop and manage a demand-driven replenishment model that responds to store-level sell-
through data, seasonal calendars, and promotional events.
▸ Coordinate with the finance function on gold loan utilisation, bullion management, and metal on
lease models to optimise working capital.
▸ Oversee vendor development for specialised product categories — bridal, solitaire, temple jewellery,
and regional design clusters.
4. Logistics, Warehousing & Movement
▸ Oversee secure inward and outward logistics, including armed transit protocols, insurance coverage,
and third-party security tie-ups for high-value jewellery movement.
▸ Manage the central warehouse/holding facility including receipt, quality inspection, tagging, and
dispatch processes.
▸ Establish inter-store transfer protocols — including documentation, security, and reconciliation
procedures.
▸ Own end-to-end consignment receipt, karigar job-work tracking, and return management processes.
5. Technology & Systems
▸ Lead the implementation and optimisation of the jewellery ERP/POS system (e.g., Jewels Soft,
Synergics, or equivalent) for inventory and supply chain modules.
▸ Drive adoption of RFID / barcode-based inventory tracking to reduce shrinkage and improve stock
visibility.
▸ Develop real-time inventory dashboards for CEO, CMO, and CSO decision-making.
▸ Ensure data integrity and audit trail compliance within all inventory systems.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
▸ Partner with the Chief Merchandising Officer on product range planning, new category introduction,
and design-to-procurement alignment.
▸ Collaborate with the Chief Sales Officer on store-wise inventory performance, festive stock planning,
and scheme-linked inventory management.
▸ Work with Finance on inventory valuation, shrinkage provisioning, and gold rate reconciliation.
▸ Coordinate with the HR and Training teams to build frontline staff capability on inventory handling,
tagging, and loss prevention.
