Job Summary:
Responsible for safe and efficient operation of tractors used for material movement, towing, loading/unloading support, and plant transportation activities within an automobile workshop or industrial facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractor safely within the plant/workshop premises.
- Transport materials, components, tools and equipment as assigned.
- Perform towing and shifting of trailers, trolleys and other attachments.
- Conduct daily pre-start inspection of tractor, tyres, brakes, engine, lights and hydraulic system.
- Follow prescribed routes, speed limits and safety procedures.
- Ensure proper coupling/uncoupling of trailers and attachments.
- Check fuel, engine oil, coolant and other basic operating requirements.
- Report mechanical problems, breakdowns or abnormal noises to the supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the tractor.
- Maintain vehicle movement and trip records as required.
- Follow PPE, traffic rules and workplace safety procedures.
- Coordinate with the automobile/maintenance team for smooth operations.
Required Skills
- Good tractor driving and vehicle-handling skills.
- Knowledge of basic tractor controls and operating systems.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to safely handle trailers and attachments.
- Good understanding of industrial safety and traffic rules.
- Physically fit and capable of working in shifts.
- Responsible and disciplined approach to vehicle operation.
Qualification
- 10th Pass preferred.
- Valid Tractor/Heavy Motor Vehicle Driving Licence as applicable.
- Basic technical/automobile knowledge preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant tractor driving experience.
- Experience in automobile plant, workshop, steel plant or industrial environment preferred.
