About the Opportunity

Orbit Global HR Consultants LLP, a leading recruitment and executive search agency, is hiring on behalf of a reputed organization for an Application Engineer – Gripping Technology & Automation Technology in Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore.

This position is suitable for an engineering professional with experience in industrial automation, robotics, gripping technology, machine building, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and automation applications.

The Application Engineer will work closely with customers, sales teams, engineering, manufacturing, and technical support teams to understand application requirements and develop technically appropriate gripping and automation solutions.

Important Location Requirement

Candidates should ideally be located within approximately 10 km of the company's Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore office.

Candidates residing farther away may also be considered if they are willing to relocate closer to the office.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Application Support

• Understand customer applications, production requirements and technical challenges.
• Recommend suitable gripping technology and automation solutions.
• Select appropriate pneumatic and electric grippers, EOAT, rotary units, linear modules, tool changers, sensors and other automation components.
• Prepare technical solution concepts, application layouts and proposals.
• Conduct application feasibility studies and technical evaluations.
• Perform component sizing and selection based on load, gripping force, speed, cycle time and operating conditions.
• Develop technically feasible solutions according to customer requirements.

2. Customer & Application Support

• Conduct technical discussions with customers and understand their automation requirements.
• Visit customer sites for application study and technical evaluation.
• Provide technical presentations and product demonstrations.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and application optimization.
• Coordinate with product specialists and global technical teams to resolve complex technical queries.
• Provide timely technical assistance throughout the customer engagement and project lifecycle.

3. Sales & Pre-Sales Support

• Work closely with the Sales Team and Key Account Managers during customer meetings.
• Provide technical inputs for customer proposals and solution development.
• Prepare techno-commercial inputs and product selection details.
• Support sales teams with technical presentations, demonstrations and application studies.
• Participate in exhibitions, seminars, webinars, workshops and customer events.
• Identify opportunities for automation and application development.

4. Engineering & Design

• Prepare 2D and 3D CAD layouts for automation applications.
• Develop concepts for EOAT, robotic grippers and customized gripping solutions.
• Coordinate with design, engineering and project teams for customized applications.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications.
• Ensure proposed designs meet customer specifications, operational requirements and applicable safety standards.

5. Documentation & Technical Reporting

• Prepare application reports and technical documentation.
• Create BOMs, product selection sheets and application documentation.
• Maintain records of customer applications, technical solutions and project learnings.
• Develop standard application and solution documents for future projects.
• Maintain accurate technical information for sales and engineering teams.

6. Product & Technology Development

• Develop strong knowledge of gripping systems, robotic end effectors, linear motion systems, tool changers, sensors and automation technologies.
• Stay updated with developments in industrial robotics, automation, Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing.
• Study competitor products and emerging automation technologies.
• Support product localization, standardization and new product introductions.

7. Internal Coordination

• Coordinate with Sales, Projects, Production, Supply Chain, Design Engineering and Global Technical Support teams.
• Ensure smooth communication between customers and internal technical teams.
• Provide technical inputs during project execution.
• Support cross-functional teams in resolving application and engineering challenges.

• Basic exposure to robot programming is preferred.

Preferred Robotics Experience

Experience with industrial robotic platforms such as:

• ABB
• FANUC
• KUKA
• Yaskawa
• Universal Robots
• Other industrial robot platforms

Experience with collaborative robots (Cobots), machine vision systems and smart manufacturing solutions will be an added advantage.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an engineering professional who has:

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation, robotics, gripping technology, machine building or application engineering.
• Exposure to robotic automation projects.
• Strong understanding of automation components and applications.
• Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong customer-facing and presentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel extensively for customer and project requirements.
• Preference for candidates from the manufacturing / industrial automation industry.
