Job Description:

Position Title: Safety Officer / EHS Executive

Department: Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

Industry: Coal Washery, Mineral Processing, Mining & Energy

Experience Level: 5 to 6 Years

Location: Plant / Coal Washery Site (e.g., Sundargarh, Odisha)

• Plant Safety & Hazard Management:

  • Conduct daily safety patrols, walk-through audits, and inspections across the coal washery, crushing units, conveyor galleries, and material stockyards.

  • Perform HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis) for all routine and non-routine high-risk operations (e.g., hot work, working at height, confined space entry, electrical maintenance).

  • Enforce strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during machinery maintenance.

• Statutory Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure complete compliance with the Factories Act, Mines Rules (as applicable to siding/washery), and State Pollution Control Board guidelines.

  • Maintain statutory safety registers, accident investigation logs, and records of periodic safety committee meetings.

• Training, Inductions & Safety Culture:

  • Conduct daily Toolbox Talks and mandatory safety inductions for all new employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Organize regular fire-fighting mock drills, safety awareness weeks, and training programs on PPE usage and emergency preparedness.

• Incident Investigation & Emergency Response:

  • Lead investigations for all near-misses, injuries, or property damage incidents to find root causes and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Inspect, test, and maintain emergency response equipment, including fire extinguishers, first aid stations, eye-wash units, and gas detectors.
