General Manager – Production / Technical

Job Description:

Role Purpose

Take complete ownership of production, quality, maintenance and safety at Plascom Industries’ Guwahati plant — spanning tape extrusion, weaving, printing, lamination/bag conversion and recycling — driving plant-wide efficiency and wastage targets, leading project execution and acting as the plant’s technical liaison. The Loom Incharge and other production-side department heads, and a plant team of approximately 100, report into this role. A separate Commercial GM handles the plant’s commercial functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of plant production planning and execution across all process stages — tape extrusion, weaving, printing, lamination/conversion and recycling.
• Drive plant-wide production output and efficiency against targets; identify and resolve deviations.
• Own quality across the plant, ensuring consistent output against customer specifications.
• Own plant maintenance — preventive and breakdown — across all equipment.
• Own plant safety, ensuring statutory compliance and a safe working environment.
• Lead execution of capex/plant projects and technical upgrades.
• Act as the plant’s technical liaison with vendors, equipment OEMs and other technical stakeholders.
• Manage and lead the plant’s production-side leadership team, including the Loom Incharge and other department heads.
• Oversee plant equipment including the Lohia Duotech Tapeline, Nova 6 and LSL 6 looms, flexographic printing machines, lamination machines (small bags and tarpaulin), Valvomatic and BCS machines from Lohia (pillow-style bags), and recycling machines.
• Ensure regulatory and statutory compliance, including factory safety requirements and applicable BIS quality standards for woven sack manufacturing.
• Maintain production, quality and wastage MIS for management review.

Key Performance Indicators

• Overall plant efficiency: 95%+
• Overall plant wastage (pre-recycling): below 4%; zero wastage post-recycling
• Plant safety record and statutory compliance
• On-time execution of plant projects and capex initiatives
• Team productivity and discipline across the plant

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering — mandatory.
• 15+ years of overall industry experience, including at least 5 years in a GM role — mandatory.
• Experience specifically in woven sack manufacturing — mandatory.
• Proven experience managing a plant-scale team (approximately 100 employees) — mandatory.
• Factory Safety Officer (FO) certification — mandatory.
• Working knowledge of BIS quality/certification standards applicable to woven sack manufacturing — mandatory.

Mandatory Skills

• Hands-on technical knowledge of Lohia Duotech Tapeline, Nova 6/LSL 6 looms, flexographic printing, lamination (small bags and tarpaulin), Valvomatic/BCS (pillow-style bags) and recycling machinery.
• Plant-level production, quality, maintenance and safety management.
• Project execution / capex management.
• Manpower leadership across a multi-department plant team.

Preferred Skills

ERP/SAP exposure for production/MIS reporting — good to have, not mandatory.

Working Conditions

• Location: Guwahati, Assam (on-site).
• Working hours: 8:00 am – 7:00 pm.
• Must be open to inter-group-company transfers as required.

Compensation & Benefits

• CTC: ₹1,00,000 – ₹1,10,000 per month.
• Accommodation provided.

Notice Period

As per company policy upon joining; no buyout / early release being considered.
