Job Description:
A Mechanical Supervisor oversees the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment while managing technicians and ensuring safety compliance.
Job Purpose
To direct daily mechanical operations, coordinate maintenance schedules, minimize equipment downtime, and supervise technical teams in manufacturing, construction, or industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Maintenance: Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs. Inspect machinery, site conditions, and blueprints to diagnose issues and plan repairs.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, mentor, and schedule mechanics, technicians, or subcontractors. Assign daily tasks and track workforce performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce health and safety regulations, conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and toolbox talks, and manage work permits (e.g., Lockout/Tagout/LOTO, Hot Work).
- Resource & Inventory Control: Track spare parts, tools, and equipment inventory. Assist with budget tracking and contractor management.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain maintenance logs, track reliability metrics, and generate daily or weekly status reports via CMMS, ERP, or SAP systems.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field (or equivalent trade certifications/Journeyman credentials).
- Experience: 2 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical construction, industrial facility maintenance, or supervisory roles (often specific to sectors like oil & gas, manufacturing, or automotive).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading P&IDs, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of equipment alignment, bolt torquing, pump/compressor start-ups, and preventative maintenance checklists.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS, SAP) and MS Office
