Costing and Estimation Executive / Engineer (Furniture)

Job Description:

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Costing & Estimation Executive / Engineer
with a strong background in furniture manufacturing, retail fixtures, joinery and
interior fit-out projects. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost
estimates, material calculations, BOQs and production costing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom furniture, retail fixtures, display
units and joinery works.
2. Review AutoCAD drawings, technical specifications and BOQs to calculate
project costs.
3. Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), Material Take-Off (MTO) and detailed costing
sheets.
4. Calculate material, labour, hardware, fabrication, finishing and transportation
costs.
5. Coordinate with the design, procurement and production teams for accurate
costing.
6. Obtain and compare vendor quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
7. Analyse manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.
8. Prepare quotations and cost comparisons for new and ongoing projects.
9. Monitor estimated versus actual production costs and highlight variations.
10. Maintain costing records, rate analysis and material price databases.
Required Skills & Qualifications
 Experience in furniture costing, estimation, joinery or retail interior fit-out
projects.
 Strong knowledge of plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, hardware, metal,
glass and finishing materials.
 Understanding of furniture manufacturing processes, production methods and
material consumption.
 Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings and technical specifications.

 Good knowledge of BOQ preparation, BOM, MTO and rate analysis.
 Proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD.
 Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and cost-control abilities.
 Ability to coordinate with factory production and procurement teams.
Preferred Candidate Profile
 Previous experience in a furniture manufacturing factory or retail fit-out
company.
 Experience in costing for custom-made furniture, retail fixtures and display
units.
 Practical understanding of factory production costs, wastage and material
optimisation.
