Key responsibilities include configuring DCS systems, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, performing routine maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and providing technical support to operators. This role is crucial in settings like power plants to manage processes involving turbines, boilers, and other related automation systems. 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • DCS Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain the DCS, including monitoring system performance and executing control strategies. 
  • System Configuration: Design, configure, and implement DCS hardware and software systems (e.g., using platforms like Siemens, ABB, Yokogawa) to meet specific plant needs. 
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support to operators, troubleshoot DCS and equipment malfunctions, and resolve process upsets to minimize downtime. 
  • Maintenance: Perform routine and specialized maintenance on DCS components, field instrumentation, transmitters, and control circuits. 
  • Integration: Ensure seamless integration of the DCS with other plant systems, such as combined heat and power (CHP) or coal handling systems. 
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain operational manuals, user guides, training materials, and equipment history records. 
  • Compliance: Ensure all actions comply with safety protocols, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams for commissioning, testing, maintenance, and quality improvement activities. 
 
Key Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and their application in turbine control.
  • Familiarity with control system platforms such as Siemens, ABB, or Yokogawa is often required.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving within a power plant or similar industrial environment.
  • Understanding of turbine operations, boilers, and related plant equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
