Job Description:
An instrument technician installs, calibrates, tests, maintains, and repairs the mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic instruments and control systems used in various industrial settings to ensure safety, accuracy, and efficiency. Their daily tasks involve working with a variety of tools, test equipment, and computer software to troubleshoot faults, adjust system components, replace defective parts, and document their work to maintain optimal equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities

Installation and Calibration:Set up and configure new instruments and control systems and calibrate them to meet industry standards and ensure accurate readings.

Maintenance and Repair:Perform routine inspections, conduct preventative maintenance, and repair or replace faulty parts to keep equipment running smoothly.

Testing and Inspection:Use specialized test equipment, schematics, and manuals to test the accuracy of instruments and systems, diagnosing issues and locating defective components.

Troubleshooting:Identify and resolve problems in complex instrumentation and control systems, often involving a deep understanding of electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic circuits.

Documentation:Keep detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and calibration activities to ensure compliance and facilitate future troubleshooting.

Collaboration:Work with engineers and other maintenance teams to design new measuring and recording equipment and to assist with system upgrades.

Safety Compliance:Adhere to safety standards and protocols to ensure the safe operation of equipment and to maintain a safe working environment.
