Job Description:
An Accountant for a steel industry job involves managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring tax and statutory compliance, with a specific focus on inventory accounting, cost management, and production costing. Key responsibilities include handling daily transactions, managing accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and audits. Strong analytical skills and knowledge of accounting software like ERP systems, Tally, or SAP are crucial for this role. 
 
Key responsibilities
  • Financial record keeping: Maintain day-to-day accounting records, including sales, purchases, cash, and bank transactions. 
     
  • Reporting: Prepare financial statements like profit & loss, balance sheets, and monthly MIS reports. 
     
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and legal regulations, such as GST and TDS. 
     
  • Cost and inventory accounting: Manage, analyze, and report on the costs associated with production and oversee inventory accounting from raw materials to finished goods. 
     
  • Budgeting and forecasting: Assist in creating and monitoring budgets and forecasts for the plant. 
     
  • Auditing: Cooperate with internal and external auditors. 
     
  • Accounts payable/receivable: Manage all accounts payable and receivable functions. 
     
Required skills and qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance. 
     
  • Experience: Prior experience in the steel or manufacturing industry is often preferred. 
     
  • Software proficiency: Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems is essential. 
     
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze financial data and solve complex accounting problems. 
     
  • Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports. 
     
  • Communication skills: Strong communication skills for coordinating with different departments and providing financial guidance.
