Job Description:

• A Boiler DCS Engineer monitors and controls boiler operations through a Distributed Control System (DCS) to ensure safe and efficient steam generation. Key responsibilities include operating the DCS, executing start-up and shutdown procedures, monitoring critical parameters like pressure and temperature, and responding to alarms and abnormal conditions. This role also involves troubleshooting issues, maintaining logs, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and coordinating with maintenance teams. 
   
  Key responsibilities
   
  • DCS Operation: Monitor and control boiler operations via the DCS for efficient and safe steam generation. 
  • Monitoring: Track critical parameters such as steam pressure, temperature, and emissions to optimize performance. 
  • Start-up and Shutdown: Execute standard operating procedures for boiler start-up, shutdown, and load changes. 
  • Emergency Response: Handle emergency situations and abnormalities, and perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis. 
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety standards, operational limits, and environmental regulations. 
  • Coordination: Communicate with field engineers and maintenance teams, providing support during breakdowns and overhauls. 
  • Reporting: Maintain daily logs, report operational data, and document deviations and maintenance activities. 
   
  Essential skills and knowledge
   
  • Boiler Operations: A strong understanding of boiler operation, including types like AFBC or CFBC. 
  • DCS/PLC: Proficiency in operating and sometimes configuring Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). 
  • Turbine Operations: Knowledge of turbine operation and synchronization with the generator is often required. 
  • Troubleshooting: The ability to diagnose and resolve issues promptly. 
  • Safety Standards: Knowledge of relevant safety rules and permit-to-work systems. 
  • Regulations: Familiarity with Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) is often a requirement.
