FITTER/SR. FITTER POWER PLANT FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING - RAIPUR , CHHATTISGARH

Job Description:

• A Fitter in a power plant (or OR. Fitter, often indicating an Operator/Runner or specialized maintenance technician) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and alignment of heavy industrial equipment such as turbines, boilers, pumps, and conveyors. They ensure operational efficiency and safety by reading blueprints, utilizing precision tools, and performing mechanical repairs. 
  Key Job Responsibilities
  • Maintenance & Repair: Performing routine, preventative, and breakdown maintenance on heavy machinery, including pumps, motors, valves, and conveyor systems.
  • Installation & Alignment: Assembling and aligning new machinery and structural components based on technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Fabrication & Machining: Using workshop equipment like milling machines, lathes, drills, welding gear, and cutting torches to modify or create metal parts.
  • Troubleshooting: Identifying, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctions to minimize downtime in the power plant.
  • Safety Adherence: Strict compliance with health and safety protocols (e.g., PPE, lock-out/tag-out) when working around high-pressure or high-temperature machinery.
  • Inspection: Inspecting structural systems and components to ensure they meet engineering standards. 
  Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: ITI in Fitter Trade or related mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, engineering drawings, and using precision measuring tools.
  • Experience: Experience with industrial maintenance, particularly with rotating equipment in a power, steel, or heavy manufacturing industry.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in challenging, often hot or high-pressure environments, involving lifting, bending, and standing for long periods. 
  Typical Working Conditions
  • High-temperature industrial environment (Thermal Power Plant/DRI plant).
  • Shift work, including nights and weekends.
  • Working at heights or in confined spaces, requiring strict safety adherence.
