Job Description:
A Power Plant DM (Demineralization) Operator's job description involves operating and maintaining the DM plant to produce mineral-free water for power generationKey responsibilities include monitoring equipment, performing routine maintenance, testing water quality, adjusting chemical dosages, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations. 
 
Core Responsibilities
  • Plant operation: 
    Monitor and control the DM plant's equipment and processes to ensure continuous and efficient production of high-quality demineralized water. 
     
  • Water quality monitoring: 
    Regularly test the water's chemical parameters to ensure it meets the required standards for use in the power plant's boilers and other processes. 
     
  • Routine maintenance: 
    Perform scheduled maintenance tasks on plant equipment, such as pumps, filters, and membranes, to prevent malfunctions. 
     
  • Chemical handling: 
    Safely handle and mix chemicals used in the demineralization process, such as regeneration chemicals, and adjust their dosages as needed. 
     
  • Troubleshooting: 
    Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or process issues to minimize downtime and ensure consistent water quality. 
     
  • Record keeping: 
    Accurately record operational data, water quality tests, and maintenance activities. 
     
  • Safety and compliance: 
    Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations related to the plant's operation. 
     
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining water treatment or DM plants.
  • Familiarity with water treatment regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling and testing procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, particularly for data recording and system monitoring.
  • First aid, CPR, and hazardous materials handling certifications can be beneficial.
