Job Description:
An Account Assistant, also known as an Accounting Assistant or Accounts Clerk, provides administrative and clerical support to accountants and the accounting departmentThey handle various tasks related to financial records, bookkeeping, and accounts payable/receivable. Their responsibilities include maintaining financial records, processing invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. They also assist with tasks like payroll processing, budget preparation, and ensuring accuracy in financial data. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining Financial Records:
    This involves recording financial transactions, such as sales, purchases, expenses, and payments, in the company's books. 
     
  • Processing Invoices and Payments:
    This includes verifying invoices, processing payments to vendors and suppliers, and reconciling vendor statements. 
     
  • Reconciling Accounts:
    This involves comparing bank statements with company records to identify and resolve any discrepancies. 
     
  • Preparing Financial Reports:
    Assisting in the preparation of financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as well as budgets and forecasts. 
     
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    Managing invoices, payments, and collections related to both accounts payable (money owed to suppliers) and accounts receivable (money owed by customers). 
     
  • Payroll Processing:
    Assisting with payroll activities, including calculating wages and salaries, processing payments, and managing employee benefits deductions. 
     
  • General Administrative Tasks:
    This may include answering phone calls, responding to emails, filing documents, and other tasks that support the accounting department's smooth operation. 
     
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software: Experience with accounting software like QuickBooks, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics is often required. 
     
  • Attention to Detail and Accuracy: Accuracy is crucial in financial data entry and record-keeping. 
     
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. 
     
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with colleagues, clients, and vendors. 
     
  • Knowledge of Accounting Procedures: Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations. 
     
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred): Some employers may prefer candidates with a relevant degree, but experience can also be a strong asset
