Job Description:
A fresher accountant's job involves supporting senior staff by handling daily financial transactions, data entry (sales, purchases, receipts), bank reconciliations, and processing invoices/payments, focusing on accuracy, maintaining ledgers (GL), assisting with basic financial reports (like balance sheets), and ensuring compliance with basic tax (TDS/GST) and accounting principles (GAAP), all under supervision to learn financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Entry & Record Keeping: Accurately recording daily transactions, sales, purchases, receipts, and payments, and maintaining ledgers.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable (AP/AR): Processing vendor invoices, expense forms, bills, and following up on outstanding customer payments.
- Bank Reconciliation: Matching bank statements with company records.
- Reporting Support: Assisting in preparing basic financial reports and statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement).
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to statutory requirements like TDS/GST and internal controls, with supervision.
- Month-End/Year-End: Assisting with closing activities, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Commerce (B.Com, M.Com).
- Technical: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software like Tally is often required.
- Soft Skills: Meticulous attention to detail, good organizational skills, communication, ability to work in a team, and problem-solving.
