IT Engineer

Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Meeting with the IT manager to discuss system needs
2. Designing and installing computer hardware configurations
3. Installing software and networking systems
4. Troubleshooting network and software issues
5. Setting up and installing new computers, networks and software
6. Setting up user accounts and profiles on the network
7. Installing updates, known as patches, to software applications
8. Installing and configuring operating systems, anti-virus software and other applications such as Microsoft Office
9. Diagnosing and fixing network problems and hardware or software faults
10. Maintaining inventories of hardware and software
11. Managing backups of servers, in case of data loss
12. Keeping a record of issues and faults along with solutions, for future reference
13. Training staff on newly installed hardware and software systems
14. Fixing hardware, software, and networking issues
15. Responding to technical support calls from end users of computers and software applications
16. Responding to general IT requests
17. Ensuring security software is kept up to date
18. Filing monthly reports for the IT Manager
19. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field
20. Extensive knowledge of computer hardware systems
21. Familiarity with general OS systems, Enterprise, programming languages, and Office software
22. Knowledge of LAN and wireless networks
23. Good communication skills
24. Ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues
