Job Description:
A Purchase Head (or Head of Purchasing/Procurement) is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, overseeing the procurement team, and managing relationships with suppliers to ensure the cost-effective and timely acquisition of goods and services. Key duties include negotiating contracts, monitoring market trends, assessing supplier performance, managing procurement budgets, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This leadership role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills to support the organization's financial and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development:Design and implement effective purchasing and procurement strategies aligned with the company's overall goals.

Company Profile
The company is in midst of implementing a 0.42 Million Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant to produce steel. Steel thus produced will consume 0.315 Million Tonne Sponge Iron from the proposed unit and 0.03 Million Tonne from the existing unit. Thus consuming the entire quantity of high grade sponge iron produced in its own manufacturing facilities. When iron is smelted from its ore by commercial processes, it contains more carbon, phosphorus, sulphar etc. than is desirable. To produce high quality steel, the elements must be brought to the within the desirable limits. The liquid steel is processed through AOD and VOD furnaces to achieve the desirable limits of elements. The liquid is then continuously casted into long slabs or through ingots.
