Job Description:
- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for steelmaking materials, industrial consumables, and spares.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors; manage supplier relationships and performance.
- Procurement Operations: Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs), track deliveries, resolve shipment issues, and manage documentation.
- Cost & Inventory Control: Monitor market trends, analyze costs, maintain optimal stock levels (min/max), and prevent stockouts.
- Internal Coordination: Collaborate with Production, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and Finance to align procurement with operational needs and standards.
- Market Intelligence: Stay updated on industry trends, raw material price fluctuations (e.g., LME rates), and new sourcing opportunities.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (Engineering/Commerce/Logistics preferred).
- Experience: Proven experience in purchasing for the steel, metal, or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot), procurement software, understanding of IS standards, and potentially ERP systems (SAP, Oracle).
- Core Competencies: Strong negotiation, communication (verbal/written), analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; commercial acumen.
- Securing materials like iron ore, coal, coke, scrap, and ferroalloys.
- Managing logistics (global/local), EXIM documentation, and freight forwarding.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.

Company Profile
The company is in midst of implementing a 0.42 Million Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant to produce steel. Steel thus produced will consume 0.315 Million Tonne Sponge Iron from the proposed unit and 0.03 Million Tonne from the existing unit. Thus consuming the entire quantity of high grade sponge iron produced in its own manufacturing facilities. When iron is smelted from its ore by commercial processes, it contains more carbon, phosphorus, sulphar etc. than is desirable. To produce high quality steel, the elements must be brought to the within the desirable limits. The liquid steel is processed through AOD and VOD furnaces to achieve the desirable limits of elements. The liquid is then continuously casted into long slabs or through ingots.
