Job Title: Senior Executive - Finance Commercial (Modern Trade)

Location: Bangalore Branch Office

Department: Finance

Reporting To: Manager Commercial

Job Summary:

The Senior Executive - Finance Commercial (Modern Trade) is responsible for managing the financial operations related to modern trade channels. This role involves financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies. The candidate will work closely with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to drive profitability and support strategic decision-making for the modern trade business.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Prepare and manage budgets and forecasts for modern trade channels.
    • Analyze financial performance and variances, providing insights and recommendations to improve profitability.
    • Monitor and report on key financial metrics, sales, margins, and expenses.
  1. Commercial Finance:
    • Collaborate with the sales team to develop pricing strategies and promotional plans.
    • Evaluate trade investments, discounts, and promotions to ensure maximum ROI.
    • Support negotiation with key modern trade partners on terms and conditions.
  1. Accounts Receivable Management:
    • Oversee the invoicing process and ensure timely collection of receivables.
    • Reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies with modern trade partners.
    • Monitor credit limits and manage credit risk for modern trade customers.
  1. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
    • Liaise with auditors and ensure smooth conduct of internal and external audits.
  1. Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to align financial objectives with business strategies.
    • Provide financial insights and support for new product launches, promotions, and market expansions.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization within the finance function.
    • Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • MBA or professional certification (CMA preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in finance, preferably within the FMCG/retail industry or modern trade environment.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with modern trade channels and understanding retail dynamics.
  • Knowledge of trade promotions, pricing strategies, and customer profitability analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and tax laws related to FMCG and retail sectors.
