Job Description:

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the facility complies with all relevant safety legislation, including the Factories Act, 1948, the Gujarat Factories Rules, 1963, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis: Conduct regular risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and hazard identification for all chemical processes, equipment, and work areas.
  • Safety Inspections and Audits: Perform routine inspections and audits of the plant, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and rectify any unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine the root cause and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees and contractors on topics such as hazard communication, emergency procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain the site's emergency response plan, including organizing and conducting mock drills and ensuring all emergency equipment is in a state of readiness.
  • Safety Committee: Act as a key member and advisor to the plant's Safety Committee, promoting employee involvement in safety initiatives.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain all necessary safety records, including accident reports, inspection findings, training records, and compliance documentation. Prepare and submit regular safety performance reports to management.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Ensure the availability, proper use, and maintenance of all necessary personal protective equipment.
  • Work Permit System: Oversee and ensure the effective implementation of the work permit system for all non-routine and hazardous jobs.
