Job Description

• Responsible for executing CFD based analysis & design validation of gas turbine combustion systems, development rig and engine test campaigns, planning, monitoring, data reduction and verification, validation.

• Execute & lead combustion aero design CFD– 2D/3D analysis, 1D flow, evaluating and propose new solutions to meet design CTQ’s.

• In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage moderate complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conceptual or theoretical activities aimed at optimizing the combustion and emissions performances
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work, understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to impact program level decisions, outcome.
  • Uses engineering judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • Learn and hands-on with fundamentals of gas turbine combustors, fuel injectors and spray
  • 2D/3D CFD modelling in real combusting environment to evaluate/propose new designs and understand impact on other CTQs like fuel air mixing, emissions, and combustion dynamics.
  • Lead & demonstrate engineering problem solving and decision making thru active program execution
  • Release down-selected designs for rig and engine testing, Lead TRL/MRL readiness.

Required Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university with a focus on aerodynamics, combustion, or heat transfer.
  • CFD analysis or Combustion design engineer with minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering function in execution of combustion aerodynamics design/analysis/testing/validation.
  • Gas Turbine Engine aerodynamic design, CFD, or test support
  • Strong technical aptitude in combustion science, including applicable engineering tools and data exposure
  • Clear thinker and effective problem solver, demonstrated technical design, experience of executing design/analysis.
  • Effective program management and execution
  • Flexible & friendly approach working within a global team, Global engineering mindset demonstrated through experience working with local & global teams.
  • Passion for continuous improvements or demonstration of LEAN concepts understanding and application.
