Job Description:
A Shift Incharge (Operations/Maintenance) in a power plant supervises daily activities, ensuring safe, efficient power generation by leading the shift team, monitoring equipment (boilers, turbines, electrical systems), troubleshooting issues, coordinating maintenance, managing safety protocols (like Permits to Work), and ensuring accurate reporting, acting as the key person for emergency response and continuous plant performance. 
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operations Oversight: Direct and monitor the entire plant's operation during the shift, adjusting parameters for optimal output and quality.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise operators and technicians, assign tasks, provide training, and ensure adherence to SOPs and safety rules.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Liaise with maintenance teams, prepare equipment for service, issue Permits to Work (PTW), and oversee repair/inspection activities.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational problems, alarms, and equipment malfunctions rapidly to minimize downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce all safety regulations (like Lockout/Tagout), lead emergency response, and maintain environmental and regulatory compliance.
  • Reporting: Prepare shift reports, log operational data, and communicate plant status to management and incoming shifts.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Oversee critical systems like boilers, turbines, cooling towers, and water chemistry. 
 
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a relevant technical diploma.
  • Experience: Proven experience in power plant operations, thermal/industrial settings, and team supervision.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of power plant equipment, DCS/control systems, maintenance practices, and safety procedures (HAZMAT).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and emergency management abilities.
