Job Description:
An Assistant Manager - Quality in a chains manufacturing unit (industrial, roller, or conveyor chains) ensures product compliance with standards (ISO, ASTM) by managing QC teams, inspecting raw materials to finished goods, and driving down PPM (Parts Per Million) defects. Key duties include implementing 8D/CAPA for root cause analysis, auditing production processes, and managing client complaints.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance & Control: Develop inspection plans, perform routine checks on metallurgical properties, heat treatment, and dimensional accuracy.
- Continuous Improvement: Reduce rejection rates (PPM) through root cause analysis (RCA), corrective actions (CAPA), and 8D processes.
- Compliance Management: Ensure strict adherence to ISO 9001 and industry-specific standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead and train QC inspectors and technicians, managing daily operational quality.
- Supplier/Customer Quality: Manage vendor quality, evaluate incoming materials, and resolve customer complaints regarding product performance.
- Data Analysis: Prepare and analyze quality metrics reports for senior management.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 3–8 years in quality control within a manufacturing, heavy engineering, or similar industry.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of GD&T, 8D, CAPA, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and calibration techniques.
- Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, analytical problem-solving, and communication skills.
