R5957 Sr. Engineer –Networking & Network Security


Position Summary:

The position is part of IT Global Network and Unified Communications team. This is a 24X7 operations team supporting-

1. Networking Fundamentals (Routing/Switching)
2. SD-WAN Solution – Preferred Velo cloud, but good to have other SD-WAN
product knowledge like Cisco/Aruba
3. Cisco Wireless/WLC products – Cisco 5520/8510/8540/9800
4. Network security Infrastructure consists of Palo-alto Next-Gen Firewall
5. Zscaler forward proxy solutions like ZIA, ZPA & ZDX.
6. Network/Server Load balancer products- F5.
7. Worked extensively on Data center products- Cisco Nexus

The Engineer must be responsible for managing technical excellence within the Network Team and providing level 3 technical assistance. This role includes problem management, coordinating with clients, and working on issues towards resolution. Apart from this, the engineer will provide 3rd line of Support for analysts, end users, and delivering functions under the Enterprise Network Portfolio.

Support has typically taken the form of investigating and resolving problems, and incident handling. Availability and performance monitoring, routine start-up and close-down, and maintenance of operating plans and schedules.

It is also good to have these individuals with additional knowledge/experience in administering and support of Cisco Voice /MS-Teams direct routing technologies.


Job Description:

  • Interpret and adopt new development approaches and technology
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving network issues using an end-to-end approach, engaging relevant vendors and application teams where necessary.
  • To be a technical escalation point for network queries that require in-depth knowledge and fault finding skills.
  • Attend conference calls for major incidents of a high impact, communicating directly with the required stakeholders and other vendors/application teams to provide technical assistance and leadership until incident resolution.
  • To proactively identify and take ownership of issues which have the potential to impact service.
  • To develop strong relationships with the NOC technical teams and colleagues at all levels and provide coaching on technical subject matters.
  • To carry out technical root cause analysis and provide suggestions for mitigation.
  • To have a full understanding of the company's change process and risk appetite to ensure stability of the network is maintained
  • To keep the network designed with recommended best practices
  • To work with various teams and vendors on creating RFPs, evaluating technical solutions to meet Momentive’s network requirements for current and future
  • Respond to global  Network problems and drive or support the analysis and remediation efforts. This includes being on call and support off-hours and holidays.


Additional Details:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Math, Engineering or related field or equivalent is required.
  • 9+ years of technical experience with strong knowledge on Network Planning, design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Functional area knowledge in one or more functional areas
  • Manufacturing or business experience with a solid understanding of business operations /processes
  • Proven advanced analytical and diagnostics skills for complex networking issues.
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience of Cisco technologies /products -LAN/WAN/Wireless/SDWAN/Network Security/ Load balancer & Data Centre
  • Excellent proactive planning for migrations, making migration strategy and steps for the migration and change management.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to simplify complex issues and produce documentation to a high standard.
  • Accredited to recognized industry standards of Cisco networking, e.g. CCNP level or above in Switching & Routing or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7-8 years of experience in designing or troubleshooting DC and MAN/WAN enterprise networks.
  • Solid understanding of the ITIL framework.
