Job Description Summary
Own, develop and maintain engineering software for Combustion aerodynamics simulations. This role will support Power businesses with improved Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) based Combustion capability for hardware durability, dynamics, performance and emissions for gas turbine combustor applications using various carbon based, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Ammonia, blended Hydrogen and Hydrogen only fuels.

Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Add capability to existing ANSYS FLUENT Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and Large Eddy Simulation (LES) Combustion platforms for various fuels including natural gas, Jet A, SAF, blended/pure Hydrogen and Ammonia.
- Lead development of new capabilities for modeling emissions, thermal predictions, flashback, autoignition and dynamics for different fuels in turbomachinery applications
- Partner with Global Research Center (GRC) and Power Combustion design teams in a collaborative manner to add modeling capability, share ideas, build business value models and synergize development priorities based on business needs and budget.
- Collaborate with universities and government institutions on combustion methods development
- Build Design System Integration (DSI) capabilities to automate modeling process involving CAD, Meshing and Post processing
- Develop methods for interfacing combustion modeling framework with turbomachinery components including compressor, diffusers, and turbines.
- Present modeling results, validation and upcoming milestone status to relevant tech committees, leadership and technical experts belonging to GRC, and Power Combustion teams.
- Leverage digital and machine learning techniques to improve capacity
- Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools. Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
Qualifications/Requirements
- PhD/Post Graduate degree from an accredited university with focus in Combustion modeling
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience with industry combustion CFD modeling – reciprocating or turbomachinery
- Good understanding of combustion chemistry, experience with using Chemkin, Cantera
- Familiarity with RANS and LES turbulence modeling
- Familiarity with both Partially Premixed Model (PPM) and Flamelet Generated Manifold (FGM) Combustion models
Desired Characteristics
- Strong familiarity with ANSYS FLUENT and CASCADE
- Experience with creating user defined functions and journal files
- Experience in developing visualization scripts using ENSIGHT, Tecplot
- Familiarity with running Combustion CFD models in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- CFD code development background specific for HPC GPU utilization
- Programming skills in Python, C, Qt
- Experience of using Machine learning methods and optimization techniques
- Be flexible and adapt to work on critical priorities as per business need
- Ability to collaborate and co-ordinate tasks involving global team members
- Strong cross-functional teaming and communication skills.
