2nd Class Boiler Operator
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities

Boiler Operations:
- Independently operate and monitor high-pressure IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) steam boilers (e.g., AFBC, oil/gas-fired, WHRB) as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage boiler start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures safely and efficiently.
- Maintain desired steam pressure, temperature, and flow rates to support continuous chemical plant operations.
- Conduct regular rounds of the boiler house and utility areas to monitor equipment performance.

Monitoring and Record-Keeping:
- Meticulously log all operational parameters, including fuel consumption, steam generation, water levels, and flue gas temperature in the boiler logbook.
- Monitor and operate auxiliary equipment such as air compressors, cooling towers, and DM (Demineralized) water plants.
- Ensure all readings and records are accurate and maintained in compliance with the Indian Boilers Act, 1923, and Gujarat Boiler Rules.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on boilers and their auxiliaries, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Assist the maintenance team during scheduled shutdowns and major overhauls.
- Promptly identify and report any malfunctions, leaks, or abnormal conditions to the Shift In-charge or Utility Engineer.
- Manage boiler blowdown procedures to control the concentration of total dissolved solids (TDS).

Safety and Compliance:
- Strictly adhere to all plant safety protocols, work permit systems, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all provisions of the Indian Boilers Act, 1923, and the Gujarat Boiler Rules.
- Participate actively in safety drills, emergency response training, and safety committee meetings.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping in the boiler and utility areas (5S principles).

Water Chemistry:
- Monitor boiler feed water and boiler drum water parameters.
- Coordinate with the water treatment plant operator to ensure the quality of feed water and dosing of required chemicals.
