Job Description:

Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

Responsibilities:

  1. Database Installation and Configuration:

    • Install and configure databases according to organizational requirements.
    • Ensure proper setup and configuration for optimal performance.
  2. Database Design and Development:

    • Design and develop databases to support business needs.
    • Implement efficient data models and structures.
  3. Database Backup and Recovery:

    • Establish backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity.
    • Regularly test backup and recovery processes to ensure reliability.
  4. Database Performance Tuning:

    • Monitor and optimize database performance.
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  5. Security and Access Control:

    • Implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
    • Manage user access control and permissions.
  6. Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

    • Monitor database systems for errors and anomalies.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly.
  7. High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

    • Configure systems for high availability and disaster recovery.
    • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans.
  8. Data Migration and Upgrades:

    • Plan and execute data migration projects.
    • Manage database upgrades and migrations.
  9. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations and procedures.
    • Generate regular reports on database performance and usage.
  10. Manual/Automation and Scripting:

    • Perform manual and automated tasks related to database management.
    • Develop and maintain scripts for automation where applicable.
  11. Capacity Planning and Resource Management:

    • Conduct capacity planning to ensure scalability.
    • Optimize resource utilization for cost-effectiveness.
  12. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support database-related initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding database status and requirements.

Additional Skill Set:

  • Verbal and Written Communication:

    • Excellent communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders effectively.
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering.
  • Power BI Knowledge:

    • Knowledge in Power BI is considered an advantage/preferred.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in SQL, load testing, and debugging.
