Project Manager
Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE:
The Project Manager is responsible for leading organization key projects and ensuring their completion on time, within budget, and within scope.
The Project Manager works directly with internal stakeholders and vendor partners to define project scope and objectives in alignment with organization strategy and business needs, and involves all relevant parties to ensure project technical feasibility.
The successful candidate is familiar with a wide variety of project management related concepts, best practices, and procedures, monitors / measures project performance using appropriate tools & techniques, and maintains detailed and accurate documentation as per the project standards
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops comprehensive project plans, including setting targets for milestones and deliverables according to established business objectives and adhering to deadlines.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs in order to properly define scope and performs gap analyses/ develop process maps to determine optimal short term/ long term paths to execution.
- Collaborates with Team Leads/Managers/Vendors to translate business requirements into optimized information technology solutions based on the practical needs of the end users.
- Works directly with internal stakeholders and aligned vendor partners, serving as key point of contact and liaison for communications and ensuring team’s actions remain in synergy.
- Makes effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.
- Implements new solutions driven by changes in the business, as well as troubleshoots and enhances existing information technology solutions.
- Performs quality control on the projects throughout development; Reviews and secures approval for technical and functional documents and artifacts as deemed required for IT Governance and SDLC of the project and/or team.
- Monitors and measures change using appropriate verification techniques; adjusts schedules and targets on the projects as needs or financing for the projects change.
- Maintains healthy relationships with third parties/vendor partners.
- Effectively manages project efforts, including scope/budget/resource management, time management (activities & task planning), communications and progress reporting, risk management, testing, user training and change management, moves to production in compliance with company standards, and transition to ongoing maintenance and support.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION SCOPE:
- Proven extensive experience in project management; Thorough working knowledge of the SDLC models/methodologies, IT systems and their direct application to projects.
- Strong vendor management skills.
- Leadership and management skills in leading technical personnel through the delivery of software development projects.
- Strong business and systems analysis skills, troubleshooting skills, and experience with numerous environments and architectures.
- Demonstrated solid organizational skills including multitasking and attention to detail skills through prior experience at the strategic and tactical/implementation levels.
- Excellent internal client and vendor facing communication skills.
- Strong analytical and planning skills/experience with IT projects & use of various project management tools.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Director, PMO
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, General Information Technology or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project management/business analysis with software development project or a relevant combination of education and experience
- Exposure to vendor relationship management required
- Preferred: PMP certification and formal training in negotiation/facilitation skills
- Preferred: Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt) certifications is a plus
- Preferred: Agile/Scrum master certification or understanding
