Job Description:

Role: Analyst - GL Controls & Substantiation

 

Job Descriptions

 

Perform in-depth analysis of financial transactions and records to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Reconcile and substantiate GL accounts to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support financial statements and audits.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and rectify variances in GL balances.
Assist in the development and implementation of efficient accounting processes and controls.
Stay updated on accounting regulations and best practices to maintain financial integrity.
Contribute to month-end and year-end closing procedures to facilitate accurate financial reporting.
Provide insights and recommendations for process improvements and optimization.
Utilize financial software and tools to streamline reconciliation and substantiation tasks.
Support internal and external audit requests by presenting well-organized and substantiated financial data.

 

 

Functional Responsibilities

Reconcile and validate financial transactions for accuracy.

Maintain detailed documentation of financial records and substantiation efforts.

Identify and resolve discrepancies in GL accounts.

Generate financial reports and support data for audits.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve financial issues.

Assist in improving accounting processes and internal controls.

Stay informed about accounting regulations and compliance requirements.

Contribute to month-end and year-end financial closing procedures.

Offer recommendations for process optimization.

Utilize financial software and tools for reconciliation tasks.                                                                                                                                                                            Have a good control over the internal office accounts, reconciliation, and analysis of outstanding entries with ageing and provision requirements if any.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Ensure ownership is establised for each of the GL accounts and timely reconciliations are submitted by the respective owners.                                   

Will be responsible for critical review /challenge process for each of the reconciliation statements to ensure correcteness, accuracy as well as timeliness of review.

 

Competencies required for role

Proficiency in financial software & tools, especially Excel and accounting software.

Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills.

Attention to detail & high level of accuracy.

Effective communication & interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently & as part of a team.

Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards
