Job Description:
A Fitter/Helper assists skilled fitters and technicians with tasks like transporting tools and materials, preparing and cleaning work areas, and performing basic assembly and maintenance under supervision. Key responsibilities include following safety protocols, handling basic tools, and supporting the team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting skilled workers: Support experienced fitters, welders, and technicians with tasks related to assembly, installation, and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Material and tool handling: Transport materials, tools, and equipment to the work site. Load and unload vehicles and organize inventory.
- Work area preparation: Clean and prepare work areas, tools, and materials for fitting, welding, or other operations. This includes cleaning and maintaining equipment.
- Basic fitting and assembly: Perform basic fitting and assembly tasks as directed, such as holding pipes in place or tightening connections.
- Safety and compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any hazards to supervisors.
- Manual labor: Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pulling, pushing, and standing for extended periods.
- Learning and development: Gain skills in fitting, welding, and other related areas by working with experienced professionals and observing their work.
Required skills and qualifications
- Physical ability: Ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and withstand the physical demands of the job.
- Teamwork: Willingness to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
