Job Description:
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for leading, training, and coordinating the daily cleaning activities of the cleaning staff to ensure all production, warehouse, and office areas meet safety and sanitation standards. This position involves managing inventory, developing cleaning procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA or similar regulations, and collaborating with maintenance to maintain a safe, efficient, and orderly manufacturing plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Management: Hire, train, orient, and supervise a team of janitors/cleaners. Create staff schedules, manage attendance, and perform performance evaluations.
- Operational Cleaning: Supervise cleaning of high-risk areas, machinery, factory floors, and common areas. Perform regular inspections to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety regulations (e.g., PPE, handling of hazardous chemicals) and ensure compliance with health and sanitation regulations.
- Inventory & Supplies Management: Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment. Order new supplies and ensure proper maintenance of machinery (e.g., floor scrubbers).
- Waste Disposal Management: Oversee the proper collection, sorting, and disposal of industrial waste, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with the Production, Maintenance, and Management teams to coordinate cleaning schedules, especially during machine downtime or specialized cleaning routines.
- Reporting: Maintain records of daily activities, inspections, inventory usage, and safety incidents.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in industrial cleaning or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience (2+ years) as a housekeeping supervisor, preferably in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial facility.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial cleaning tools, chemicals, and safety procedures.
- Leadership Skills: Strong ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team.
- Organization: Excellent time management and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand/walk for long hours and lift, push, or pull heavy equipment.
- Flexibility: Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and night shifts.
