Department: Credit Underwriting – Project Finance

Designation: Sr Manager / AVP (Cleantech Finance)

Line of Business:  Cleantech Finance

Proposed Immediate Superior:  Associate Vice President Credit Underwriting  

Grade: M4/M5

Key Objective of the Job:

Underwriting of project finance transactions primarily into infrastructure sectors such roads, renewables, power transmission, water, logistics, CGD etc. as also in manufacturing sectors (such as steel, cement, textiles, chemicals, etc)

Major Deliverables:

·         Preparation of Credit appraisal note and In-principle notes/presentations.

·         Liaison with business, legal and risk teams for execution of transactions, including transaction structuring / term sheet preparation, credit checks on compliance with Pre-Disbursement Conditions, etc.

·          Building knowledge base by engaging with internal as well as external parties

·          Preparation of financial models and tracking of key operating parameters in the infrastructure sectors

·          Tracking development in sectors under coverage

Specialized job competencies:

·         Understanding of financial statements, and financial analysis of corporates / mid-corporates

·         Proficient writing skills, for preparing credit appraisal note, in concise manner, while at the same time bringing out all the key aspects of a transaction

·         Financial modelling skills (MS-Excel) for preparing business plan / financial projections.

·         Domain expertise in sectors under coverage

·         Understanding of banking / lending business, and the regulatory aspects in relation to the same

·         Research oriented approach of working with an eye for detail.

·         Term sheet Drafting

·         Identifying key drivers, risks and key issues in the transaction being evaluated, and leading the discussions with client and other stakeholders (LIE, rating agencies, etc) for understanding key aspects/risks of the transaction, and obtaining suitable clarifications on the same, with the objective of making the transaction bankable.

·         Presenting the transaction internally to senior management, bringing out the key strengths, risks and mitigants of the proposed transaction, prior to putting up to appropriate committee for final approval.

Desired Experience: 5-8 years’ experience in business / credit / risk profile of a financial institution / bank / NBFC / credit rating agency handling transactions in above sectors / work experience with project developers, corporate houses, consultancies would also be acceptable. Experience of project financing in manufacturing sectors (such as steel, cement, textiles, chemicals, etc) will also be desirable and an added advantage.

Educational / Professional Qualifications: Minimum Degree: CA / MBA / CFA
