Job Description:
esponsibilities:
- Lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team, including technicians and engineers, to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and schedules to maximize equipment uptime and minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery to identify maintenance needs, defects, or potential issues.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance activities based on equipment criticality, production schedules, and resource availability.
- Coordinate with production and operations teams to schedule and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities without disrupting plant operations.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and procedures, and promote a culture of safety awareness among the maintenance team.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with equipment suppliers, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely procurement of spare parts, materials, and services.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance data, maintenance records, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize maintenance processes.
- Participate in the planning and execution of plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and capital projects, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to mechanical maintenance staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and reliability teams to assess equipment condition, reliability, and lifecycle costs, and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment histories, and inventory levels, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other tools.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical maintenance and reliability engineering, and incorporate them into plant operations and maintenance strategies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and engineering, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role within the steel industry or similar heavy industry sector.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and processes used in steel manufacturing, including but not limited to rolling mills, blast furnaces, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
- Proven leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of maintenance professionals.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and practices related to mechanical maintenance and industrial operations.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
