Plant Manager: Job Description

Job Overview:

As a Plant Manager, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and dispatch. You will ensure that production and quality control are maintained as per established standards, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and productivity. You will oversee a team of production supervisors and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute plans to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant, including production planning, scheduling, resource allocation and maintenance activities
  • Manage plant budgets, stocks & inventory, monitor expenses, and prepare reports on plant performance, including productivity, quality, and safety metrics
  • Lead and motivate a team of production supervisors, providing guidance and coaching to improve performance and productivity
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. quality, production, dispatch) to drive continuous improvement initiatives and solve operational issues
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and other

 

Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, plastics technology, operations management, or related field (Master degree preferable)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Extrusion & PP Sheet Production environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/management role

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Good understanding of production processes, quality control, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office and Tally-Prime software
