Job Description:

-Level (Grades): M1/M2 (Asst. Mgr / Manager)

-Qualification: Mandatory – Post Graduate (ME/MTech) in Oil/Tribology/Materials

-Experience: Number of Years –  4 to 9 years

-Function – Oil & Friction

Technical/Functional Knowledge and Skills required: 

  1. Good understanding of physics, chemistry, and materials science of the friction and wear of metallic, ceramic, composites, polymers.
  2. Hands on experience of friction testing techniques, especially as related to extracting critical materials properties influencing friction and wear behavior.
  3. Work experience in handling oil & friction laboratory.
  4. Hands on experience calibrating and operating various equipment like viscometers, FTIR for oil analysis, ICP spectrometer etc.
  5. Successful track record of conducting/ leading fundamental research studies in the area of oil & friction.
  6. Exposure to oil condition monitoring techniques.
  7. Hands on experience in oil contamination analysis.
  8. Awareness of various statistical techniques (DOE, SPC, ANOVA)
  9. Excellent problem solving and communication skills
  10. Strong Interpersonal and team working skills are essential, demonstrated ability to work in team

Key Deliverables / Accountabilities of the Position: Roles & Responsibilities are as below: 

  1. Work with the rest of the R&D team and with other functions in design and development of suspension/ brakes/ transmission products from tribology point of view.
  2. Leads Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations. Based on the outcome of the investigation, ensures procedures/learnings are updated and communicated to respective stakeholders.
  3. Set up in-house oil & friction lab.
  4. Prepare a technology roadmap for Oil & friction in sync with organizational targets.
  5. Work closely with outside consultants/ research institutes/ technological partners for improving tribological aspects of suspension/ brakes/ transmission systems.
  6. Testing of oil for failure analysis and root cause finding and suggesting improvements.
  7. Interact with suppliers during new product development.
  8. Keep updated about the current industry developments & trends in materials, processes improving wear, friction properties
