Job Description:
An AGM (Assistant General Manager) in a power plant oversees daily operations, maintenance, and performance, focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, managing teams, projects, budgets, and ensuring compliance with technical, safety, and statutory requirements for stable power generation. Key responsibilities include project management (execution, commissioning), operational oversight (DCS, critical parameters), preventive/corrective maintenance (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation), team leadership, performance analysis, and coordinating with other departments.
Core Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power generation, monitoring systems, and controlling operations.
- Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Project Management: Oversee project execution, from concept to commissioning, including vendor management and EPC contractor oversight.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols (HSE) and ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor engineering and technical teams.
- Performance & Budget: Analyze plant performance data, manage departmental budgets, and implement cost-saving measures.
Key Areas of Expertise
- Mechanical: Experience with turbines, boilers, HRSG, cooling towers, and related auxiliaries.
- Electrical: Knowledge of electrical systems up to 220KV, equipment isolation, and power distribution.
- Instrumentation & Control: Experience with DCS operation, calibration, and troubleshooting instruments.
- Technical/Commercial: Techno-commercial discussions, vendor development, and EPC management for power projects.
Typical Qualifications & Experience
- Education: B.Tech/B.E. in relevant engineering fields (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation).
- Experience: 15+ years in power plant operations, maintenance, or projects, with significant leadership experience.
- Skills: Strong leadership, interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of ERP systems like SAP.
