Utility Costing Engineer

Job Description: We are looking for a highly motivated Utility Costing Engineer (Fresher) to join our team. As a Utility Costing Engineer, you will support the estimation and budgeting of utility-related systems such as water supply, electricity, gas, and sewage systems. This role offers a great opportunity for fresh graduates to develop their skills in cost estimation, financial management, and project coordination in the utility infrastructure domain. You will receive guidance from senior engineers and work closely with the team to ensure accurate and efficient costing for utility projects.
Roles and Responsibilities: Assist in Cost Estimation for Utility Systems: o Learn to prepare cost estimates for utility systems (water supply, electricity, sewage, and gas) based on project specifications, design drawings, and Bill of Quantities (BOQs). o Support the estimation process by calculating costs for materials, labor, equipment, and other resources. Support Vendor Management and Procurement: o Assist in evaluating vendors and suppliers for utilityrelated components and materials, ensuring costeffectiveness and quality.
Study Project Specifications and Designs: o Review utility project specifications, designs, and technical drawings to understand the scope and requirements for cost estimation. o Identify any areas where costs can be optimized based on the design and specifications. Prepare and Maintain Costing Reports: o Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports tracking the utility project costs, expenditures, and budget status. o Support in documenting project budgets, cost variations, and forecasts for utility works. Budget Monitoring and Expenditure Control: o Track utility project expenses and assist in ensuring that the costs stay within the defined budget. o Report discrepancies between estimated and actual costs to senior engineers for necessary corrective actions.
Assist in Evaluating Design Changes: o Help in assessing the impact of design modifications, reworks, or unforeseen challenges on utility costs. o Assist in proposing cost-saving measures in case of design changes or project delays. Collaboration with Engineering and Project Teams: o Work closely with senior engineers and project managers to review utility designs, costing data, and budget updates. o Participate in project meetings, contributing to discussions related to cost estimation, budgeting, and procurement.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Fresh graduate (0-1 year) with a strong interest in utility systems and cost estimation. Basic knowledge of utility systems (water supply, sewage, gas systems) is an advantage (training will be provided). Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a team and contribute to collaborative project efforts. Good communication skills, with an eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic work environment. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
