Job Description:

A "Head of Wind Energy Procurement and Contracts" in renewable energy is responsible for developing and executing procurement and contracting strategies for wind projects, managing supply chains, and negotiating high-value contracts for components like wind turbines and balance of plant. Key duties include cost optimization, vendor relationship management, and ensuring the efficient and compliant sourcing of all necessary materials and services to meet project timelines and budgets. 

Key responsibilities
  • Strategy development: Create and implement global procurement strategies for all wind energy project components, including turbines, inverters, and balance of plant.
  • Sourcing and supplier management: Identify, vet, and manage a global network of suppliers. This includes establishing and managing procurement offices in other countries to ensure supply chain reliability and quality.
  • Contract negotiation: Lead contract negotiations for all major purchases to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  • Cost optimization: Drive cost reductions through competitive sourcing, supplier diversification, and long-term global framework agreements.
  • Supply chain management: Oversee the entire supply chain to ensure the timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Risk management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement and the supply chain, such as quality, cost, and delivery delays.
  • Team leadership: Mentor and lead a procurement team, fostering collaboration across different departments.
  • Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations. 
 
Required qualifications and skills
  • Experience: Significant experience in procurement, especially with a focus on wind energy projects and international sourcing. A track record of managing large-scale projects and high-value international supply chains is crucial.
  • Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of renewable energy components (wind turbines, inverters, etc.) and the full procurement lifecycle from sourcing to contract closure.
  • Negotiation skills: Proven ability to negotiate complex and high-value contracts.
  • Leadership and communication: Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze market trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Behavioral skills: Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and multitasking abilities.
