Job Description:
A Shift Incharge (Ferro) manages plant operations during a shift, overseeing production, team leadership, safety, quality control, and maintenance for ferro-alloy processes like furnace operations, ensuring targets are met, resources are used efficiently, and issues are resolved. Key duties include monitoring furnace parameters, supervising raw material feeding, troubleshooting equipment, managing staff, and maintaining detailed shift reports for production, quality, and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Management: Supervise daily operations, control furnace parameters (temperature, load, power), manage raw material input, and ensure efficient resource utilization to meet production targets.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and guide shift personnel (operators, technicians) and ensure proper task delegation and training.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols, conduct checks, manage emergency responses, and ensure adherence to industry standards.
- Quality Control: Implement quality measures, conduct inspections, resolve quality issues, and ensure final product specifications are met.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Oversee equipment maintenance, diagnose and resolve mechanical/electrical issues, and coordinate with maintenance teams.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate shift records, production data, inventory levels, and provide detailed reports to management.
- Coordination: Liaise with other departments (maintenance, quality, stores) for smooth workflow and effective handovers.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of ferro-alloy production processes, furnace operations, and relevant machinery.
- Leadership: Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to resolve operational challenges quickly.
- Communication: Clear reporting and coordination skills.
- Education: Often requires a Diploma or B.Tech in Metallurgy or a related engineering field.
