Job Description:
A Head of Purchase (or Head of Procurement) leads all buying activities, developing strategies to get the best value (cost, quality, delivery) for goods and services, managing supplier relationships, overseeing the purchasing team, controlling budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulations, ultimately supporting overall business goals by securing necessary resources efficiently. Key duties include strategic planning, contract negotiation, team leadership, inventory oversight, performance monitoring, and risk mitigation in the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement overall purchasing strategies, set department goals, and align procurement with business objectives.
- Supplier Management: Identify, vet, negotiate with, and manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring strong partnerships and favorable terms
.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, guide, and manage the purchasing department, setting KPIs and ensuring efficient team performance.
- Cost & Quality Control: Secure optimal pricing, monitor quality standards, manage budgets, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Operations: Oversee purchase orders, track deliveries, manage inventory levels, and maintain procurement records.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, laws, and regulations, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Reporting: Analyze spending, track expenditures, and provide support to senior management.
Core Duties:
- Negotiating contracts and terms with vendors.
- Conducting market research for new suppliers and trends.
- Evaluating vendor performance.
- Coordinating with other departments (e.g., production, finance).
- Implementing purchasing software and technolog

Reporting Structure:
- Often reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or Operations Director.
