Job Title:
Deputy General Manager – Business Development (Construction Chemicals)
Location: Mumbai
Reporting To: Chief Operating Officer
Role Purpose:
The DGM – Business Development will be responsible for driving business growth in the construction chemicals segment by developing key accounts, expanding market presence, strengthening channel partnerships, and leading strategic initiatives across infrastructure, real estate, industrial, and project sales segments.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Growth & Strategy
- Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve revenue, margin, and market-share targets.
- Identify new business opportunities in infrastructure, real estate, industrial flooring, waterproofing, repair & rehabilitation, and admixtures.
- Prepare annual business plans, forecasts, and growth roadmaps aligned with organizational goals.
Key Account & Project Management
- Build and manage relationships with key customers including:
- Developers
- EPC contractors
- Consultants
- Government & PSU clients
- Track large projects from specification to execution and payment realization.
- Influence product approvals, technical specifications, and preferred vendor listings.
Channel & Partner Development
- Strengthen distributor, dealer, and applicator networks across regions.
- Appoint and develop new channel partners to improve market reach and penetration.
- Ensure channel performance through structured reviews, training, and engagement programs.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and mentor regional sales and business development teams.
- Set targets, monitor performance, and conduct regular reviews.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and customer centricity.
Market Intelligence & Product Support
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing, and emerging technologies.
- Work closely with technical, R&D, and marketing teams for product positioning and new launches.
- Support technical presentations, site trials, and solution-based selling.
Financial & Commercial Control
- Ensure profitable growth with strict control on pricing, credit, and collections.
- Negotiate commercial terms for large projects and strategic accounts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of construction chemicals (waterproofing, flooring, repair solutions, sealants, etc.)
- Strategic thinking with hands-on execution capability
- Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills
- Leadership and people management capability
- Strong business acumen with P&L understanding
- Effective communication and presentation skills
Educational Qualification:
- B.E./B.Tech (Civil/Chemical preferred)
- MBA / PGDM (Marketing / Sales preferred)
Experience:
- 12–18 years of experience in Construction Chemicals or allied building materials industry
- Proven experience in project sales, key accounts, and business development
- At least 4–6 years in a senior leadership or regional role
