About the Role
The Lead – Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML) is responsible for reviewing and analyzing AML alerts related to trade transactions, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory guidelines. The role involves supporting the implementation of Trade AML policies, conducting post-transaction reviews, and escalating suspicious activities. As a key member of the compliance team, the role holder will also assist in regulatory reporting and act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external regulators.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
Review post-transaction alerts from an AML perspective in line with Trade AML procedures and red flag indicators.
Ensure adherence to systems, procedures, and controls for effective AML monitoring.
Conduct timely review and escalation of alerts to relevant authorities.
Support the implementation and maintenance of Trade AML procedures across the bank.
Drive operational excellence initiatives within the Trade AML team.
Assist in achieving acceptable audit ratings and resolving AML-related audit issues.
Provide inputs for AML-related training programs.
Conduct regular knowledge-sharing sessions with Trade Operations teams.
Keep the team updated on changes in AML policies and procedures.
Analyze significant AML risk events, especially cross-border transactions, and ensure appropriate reporting.
Escalate serious regulatory breaches or risk tolerance violations to senior management and support remediation efforts.
Assist the Principal Officer (PO) and Alternate Principal Officer (APO) in regulatory reporting.
Handle additional responsibilities as delegated by the Principal Officer.
Secondary Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to leverage synergies and enhance AML controls.
Stay informed about regulatory developments and evolving best practices in compliance.
Foster a culture of collaborative learning and shared responsibility within the team.
What We Are Looking For
Education
Graduation: Bachelor’s degree in any relevant stream.
Post-graduation: Any stream.
Experience
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in AML compliance, preferably with exposure to trade-based money laundering.
Skills and Attributes
Strong understanding of AML regulations and trade finance operations.
Experience in transaction monitoring, alert review, and regulatory reporting.
Ability to manage audits and ensure timely resolution of compliance issues.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in AML software and automation tools.
Ability to lead teams and promote a compliance-driven culture.
