Job Description:
A cleaning staff member for a girls' hostel is responsible for maintaining high standards of hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness across all residential rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. Key duties include sweeping, mopping, sanitizing restrooms, disposing of waste, and ensuring a safe, tidy environment, while maintaining confidentiality and responding promptly to maintenance issues.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Sanitation & Cleaning: Thoroughly clean and disinfect bathrooms, toilets, showers, and common areas daily.
- Room Maintenance: Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum resident rooms, including furniture, fixtures, and windows.
- Waste Disposal: Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and ensure proper garbage disposal.
- Linens & Laundry: Change bed linens and towels, and assist with laundry tasks as required.
- Restocking Supplies: Replenish cleaning supplies and, if applicable, bathroom amenities like soap and toilet paper.
- Safety & Reporting: Observe safety regulations, report maintenance issues, damages, or necessary repairs to management.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the privacy of residents at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or a similar role is preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, kneeling, and lifting.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure all areas are spotless and well-maintained.
- Reliability: Trustworthy, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Communication: Good verbal communication skills for reporting and interacting with hostel management.
