Job Description:
The Head of Business Development for a transmission line tower manufacturing company is a senior executive responsible for driving revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic partnerships within the power transmission and distribution industry. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive business development and sales strategies to achieve company targets and expand market share, aligning sales efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Opportunity Identification and Pursuit: Identify and pursue new business opportunities with key clients such as Transmission System Operators (TSOs), Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), EPC contractors, and government bodies.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with senior decision-makers and key stakeholders in client organizations.
  • Tender and Proposal Management: Oversee the entire sales pipeline, including lead generation, proposal development, and contract closure. This involves leading the preparation of Expressions of Interest (EOIs), tenders, and RFP (Request for Proposal) responses, coordinating with technical and commercial teams.
  • Market Analysis and Intelligence: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs. Utilize these insights to adapt business strategies and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Negotiation and Deal Closure: Lead negotiations for high-value contracts, ensuring alignment with client requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and project execution teams to ensure seamless project delivery and alignment of business development efforts with operational capabilities.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Set annual sales targets, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular reports and forecasts to senior management.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the organization at industry forums, conferences, and networking events to enhance brand image and expand the professional network. 
 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience: Proven experience in a senior business development or sales leadership role within the power transmission, heavy engineering, or a related manufacturing industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: A strong techno-commercial mindset with a deep understanding of power transmission and distribution networks, EHV/HV substations, and transmission lines.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a business development team to achieve targets.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills are essential for engaging with C-suite executives and diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic business acumen and problem-solving abilities to identify growth opportunities and develop effective market entry strategies.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field; an MBA or advanced certifications may be preferred.
