Job Description:
A Liaison Manager for a steel company bridges communication between the organization and external stakeholders—such as government bodies, regulatory authorities, and the community. Their primary goal is to secure necessary operational permits, ensure statutory compliance, and facilitate smooth plant operations or expansion projects. [1, 2]
Core Responsibilities
  • Government & Regulatory Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for district authorities, municipal corporations, and state/central government agencies. [1, 2]
  • Permits & Clearances: Coordinate the acquisition and timely renewal of critical licenses, such as mining permits, forest clearances, and State Pollution Control Board (Consent to Establish/Operate) certificates. [1]
  • Land & Power Liaisoning: Facilitate end-to-end land acquisition processes (including land-use conversion) and coordinate with state electricity boards for power load sanctions. [1, 2]
  • Compliance Management: Ensure company operations strictly adhere to environmental, mining, labor, and safety regulations. [1, 2, 3]
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with local communities, village heads, and union representatives to mitigate operational bottlenecks and manage public relations. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Institutional Sales & Tenders (If applicable): Facilitate vendor registrations with PSUs, track government infrastructure budgets, and assist in commercial bidding processes. [1]
Key Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Relations, Law, or Engineering. An MBA is typically preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant liaisoning or public relations experience, specifically within the mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Professional Network: A pre-existing, strong network with local and regional government officials.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution, and written communication skills.
  • Legal Knowledge: A strong understanding of statutory compliance, land laws, and environmental regulations.
