Job Description:
The Sr. Manager Commercial will oversee all commercial activities including procurement of raw materials (steel coils, scrap), vendor management, logistics, and contract management. The goal is to optimize costs, maximize operating efficiency, and ensure timely production dispatches while mitigating commercial risks. 
 
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
  • Strategic Sourcing & Procurement: Oversee raw material aggregation (steel coils, HR/CR sheets) and procurement of consumables and spare parts, ensuring uninterrupted production.
  • Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with key raw material suppliers, negotiating terms and pricing to drive cost reduction.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including client contracts, supply agreements, and vendor contracts.
  • Logistics & Dispatch: Manage inbound raw materials and outbound logistics, coordinating with transport agencies to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Inventory & Cost Control: Optimize inventory levels to balance operational continuity with working capital needs. Conduct stock audits and accurate reconciliation.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with GST, Customs, Factory Act, and other state-specific regulations, liaising with local authorities.
  • Financial Reporting & Monitoring: Monitor budgets, reduce costs, and provide regular commercial performance reports (MIS) to senior management.
  • Team Leadership: Guide and train the commercial team, ensuring high performance in procurement, store management, and dispatch. 
     
Desired Skills and Competencies
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of steel pipe manufacturing processes (ERW, LSAW, HSAW, seamless), raw materials, and steel industry trends.
  • Negotiation Skills: Exceptional negotiation ability for raw material pricing and contract terms.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze market trends, contract commercials, and cost benefits.
  • ERP Proficiency: Hands-on experience with SAP (or similar ERP systems) is typically mandatory.
  • Leadership: Strong team management and interpersonal skills. 
     
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Metallurgy) or a Commerce graduate with an MBA in Finance/Supply Chain Management. A CA/LLB qualification is often preferred.
  • Experience: 10–15+ years of relevant commercial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role within a heavy engineering or steel pipe manufacturing plant.
