Job Description:
A Cement Plant Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue, expanding market share, and managing distribution networks. They bridge the gap between production and the construction market by building relationships with dealers, builders, and contractors, while ensuring payment collections and overseeing a dedicated sales team. Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Identify and appoint new dealers, distributors, and sub-dealers while continuously expanding the customer base in unrepresented markets. [1, 2]
- Sales Targets & Forecasting: Develop efficient sales strategies to achieve primary (bulk) and secondary (retail) sales targets. Monitor performance against KPIs and provide accurate forecasting to senior management. [1, 2, 3]
- Key Account Management: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including builders, contractors, architects, structural engineers, and government departments. [1, 2, 3]
- Channel & Dealer Management: Regularly assess channel partner performance, conduct market mapping, and resolve distribution or supply chain issues. [1]
- Payment & Receivable Collection: Ensure timely payment collections, monitor outstanding credit, manage ledger discrepancies, and handle legal matters regarding defaulters. [1, 2]
- Market Intelligence: Analyze competitor pricing, incentive schemes, and marketing tactics. Provide regular market reports to superiors. [1, 2, 3]
- Promotional Activities: Organize and implement brand-building activities such as mason meets, engineer meets, dealer boards, and localized promotional campaigns. [1, 2]
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of territory sales managers and sales officers. [1, 2]
Preferred Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA is typically preferred.
- Experience: 5 to 10+ years of proven sales experience in the building materials industry, with a strong preference for Cement or Ready Mix Concrete (RMC).
- Skills Required: Exceptional negotiation and customer relationship management (CRM) skills, data-driven decision making, and deep market knowledge.
