Job Description:
An Assistant Electrician in a steel manufacturing plant assists senior engineers and technicians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of heavy industrial electrical equipment. They support operations by laying conduits, maintaining HT/LT panels, and troubleshooting faults in high-temperature machinery like EOT cranes and furnaces. [1, 2]
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Support: Assist senior staff in performing preventive maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs on transformers, switchgears, and MCC panels. [1]
- Equipment Troubleshooting: Help diagnose electrical faults in heavy-duty machinery, including EOT (Overhead) cranes, motors, and induction/arc furnaces. [1, 2]
- Installation Work: Assist with laying conduits, pulling low-voltage wiring, and assembling electrical components like circuit breakers and control panels. [1]
- Safety Compliance: Follow strict electrical safety codes, adhere to work permit systems, and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). [1, 2]
- Documentation & Coordination: Maintain logbooks for daily maintenance activities, record spare parts usage, and report equipment abnormalities to the supervisor. [1, 2]
Job Requirements
- Education: ITI certificate or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 1 to 3 years of hands-on electrical experience, preferably in a manufacturing or heavy industry setting.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work in noisy, high-temperature industrial environments and lift heavy equipment
