Job Description:
A Senior Electrical Engineer for a steel manufacturing Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) drives the reliability, automation, and maintenance of high-power casting systems. They minimize downtime by ensuring 24/7 power availability and troubleshooting complex electrical faults, overseeing PLCs, drives, and motors in high-temperature environments. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Core Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Develop and execute preventive/predictive maintenance schedules for critical equipment like HT/LT switchgears, transformers, VFDs, and motors. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) during equipment breakdowns. [1, 2]
- Automation & Control: Manage and troubleshoot automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA networks, and field instrumentation specific to CCM operations. [1, 2, 3]
- Project Management: Plan and execute electrical infrastructure upgrades and modernization projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and timelines. [1, 2]
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict electrical safety protocols such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Ensure all installations comply with statutory requirements. [1, 2]
- Team Leadership: Supervise electrical maintenance crews and mentor junior engineers. [1, 2]
Key Qualifications
- Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 4 to 8+ years of relevant experience in a heavy manufacturing or steel industry setting (especially SMS and CCM).
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of industrial power systems, control panels, and wiring architectures.
- Software: Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), SCADA, and electrical drafting software.
