Job Description:
A resort steward bridges the gap between the kitchen and dining areas. They ensure a seamless guest dining experience by maintaining strict sanitation standards, restocking supplies, and assisting waitstaff. Responsibilities typically include cleaning dishware, setting up service stations, and complying with health and hygiene regulations. [1, 2]
Key Responsibilities
- Hygiene & Sanitation: Wash and sanitize all dishware, flatware, pots, pans, and glasses using dishwashing machines or by hand. [1, 2]
- Station Maintenance: Keep the kitchen and serving areas clean, swept, and mopped. Dispose of waste properly and maintain cleaning chemical inventories. [1, 2]
- Dining Support: Assist food and beverage servers by setting up side stations, clearing dirty tables, and restocking condiments, trays, and napkins. [1, 2]
- Stock & Inventory: Help unload, organize, and store incoming kitchen stock and supplies. [1, 2]
- Linen & Uniform Management: Coordinate with housekeeping to ensure a steady supply of clean tablecloths, napkins, and staff uniforms. [1, 2]
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Hospitality or culinary training is a plus.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long hours, bend, and lift heavy objects.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
